Daystar University School Of Nursing, Daystar University is launched the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BScN) in 2010. Thereafter, the Uprading programme for nurses holding a Diploma in Nursing was launched in 2011. These programmes were approved by the Commission for the Higher Education (CUE) and the Nursing Council of Kenya.

The University is working in collaboration with carefully selected reputable and approved training hospitals where the students shall carry out their practicals. The University has highly qualified faculty and a well equipped skills laboratory.

Mission of the Department

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programme aims at preparing a professional nurse with a broad theoretical base of knowledge and a high level of competence who will function as an effective member of the diverse health care system in the areas of general nursing, midwifery and community health nursing as a nurse educator or nurse manager and be committed to life-long learning based on the core values of excellence, integrity, caring, professionalism, holism and safe practice which will form the foundation for the practice of the art and science of nursing.

Programme Duration and Structure

The curriculum comprise a four year programme leading to the award of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BScN). The credit hours include both classroom lectures and clinical experiences. Classroom lectures will occur during the day at campus of Daystar, located along Valley Road, Nairobi.

Admission Requirements

The University shall admit for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BScN) programme those students who will fulfill entry requirements that apply to all Daystar undergraduate students and the specific requirements of the Nursing Council of Kenya: Minimum Academic Qualifications K.C.S.E. or its equivalent, aggregate of C+ and C+ in cluster subjects of English or Kiswahili, Mathematics/Physics, Chemistry, Biology or combined subjects of Physical Science, Biological Sciences, Mathematics, and English or Kiswahili.
