It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all to the Faculty website.  The Faculty of Health Sciences is located on two campuses of Egerton University both Njoro main campus (pre-clinical courses) and Nakuru Town campus next to the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital Nakuru (Clinical programmes & Nursing).

The Faculty of Health Sciences has experienced phenomenal growth since 1999 when it started as one department to the current eleven (11) fully established departments.  With this steady development, the faculty is focused on growing into a college of Health Sciences in the near future.

The mandate of the faculty is to teach and train high caliber health-care professionals, provide healthcare services and consultancy, conduct research and participate in extension, outreach and community services.

Our vision is a College of Health Sciences with various schools and specialties that offer exemplary training and quality research in health care.

Our mission is to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and skills in different specialties for effective and efficient management of health care.

The Faculty has highly qualified and internationally recognized complement of staff who have earned honors for their teaching and research contributions. (see faculty staff profiles)

Our academic programs are very competitive, flexible, relevant and consistent with Global National, Community and Individual health needs.    Our current student population is at 1,060.

The faculty has modern and fully equipped facilities to execute its mandate.  Among them is the Faculty of Health Sciences Complex in Milimani Nakuru and Human Anatomy Complex in Njoro that houses the Histology and Human Anatomy Labs as well as an Ultra Modern Funeral Home that offers various mortuary services.

Our research activities span from basic to applied and operational research with strong platforms in tuberculosis, HIV, using students as ambassadors on message delivery and non-communicable diseases.

  1. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery

Requirements: Mean grade B (Plus)

Cluster

  • Language (English and Kiswahili) B+
  • Mathematics/Physics B+
  • Biology B+
  • Chemistry B+

Diploma in Clinical Medicine grandaunts with at least Credit Pass may also apply or other science related courses.

Mode of study: Full time

Duration: 6 years

Tuition Fees: 380,000 p.a.

Study centre: Year 1 & 2 will be in Njoro campus while year 3, 4, 5 & 6 will

be in the Faculty of Health Sciences – Nakuru Town opposite Rift Valley PGH

  1. Bachelor of Science In Nursing (In-Service)

Minimum Requirements

  • Duly Registered with Nursing Council of Kenya
  • A diploma in Nursing
  1. a)Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN) or
  2. b)Kenya Registered Nursing with Kenya Registered Midwifery and Kenya Public Nursing (KRN/KRM/KPHN)
  • At least Three Years Experience Post Registration
  • Must have had a minimum of a C (Plain) in KCSE/Division II in KCE

Mode of study: Full time

Duration: 9 terms Equivalent to 2 ½ years

Tuition Fees: 180,000 p.a.

  1. Bachelor of Science In Nursing (Pre-Service)

MINIMUN REQUIREMENTS

K.C.S.E. (C+). With C+ In languages, Biology, Physics,/ Mathematics & Chemistry

  1. Bachelor of Science in Foods, Nutrition & Dietetics

Requirements: Mean grade C+ (Plus)

Cluster

Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics C+

  • Candidates with atleast a Credit Diploma from a recognized institution may also apply.

Mode of study: Full time

Duration: Four academic years and two to three for in-service students based on credit-factor transfer.

Tuition Fees: 110,000 p.a.

. Master of Science in Nutritional Sciences

Requirements: Upper Second Class Honours degree or equivalent in Foods, Nutrition & Dietetics or related programme from Egerton University or any other institution recognized by Egerton University.

Mode of study: Full time, evening classes

Duration: 1 ½ Academic years

Tuition Fees: 137,700 p.a.

Study centre: Nakuru Town Campus
