A speech by the  Karatina University Vice Chancellor. Karatina University is committed to provision of quality education and services that are grounded in professionalism, discipline and continuous improvement. This is in tandem with our mission, vision and the core values where we inspire innovation and leadership. Moreover, we have ensured that our curriculum meets the demands and aspirations of the ever-changing global society.

Our unwavering desire is to produce graduates who can go out and make a difference in various aspects of national development. In this regard, we not only prepare our students for various job markets, but also train them on creation of employment and talent development.

To ensure quality learning, we recently completed the construction of 18 new spacious classrooms to meet the high number of students that have joined the university this year. Furthermore, two major projects are at an advanced stage of construction, namely the ultra-modern resource centre and a 750-bed capacity students’ hostel. We hope to break the ground soon for the construction of a modern library.

As a university, we give a lot of attention to research and sharing of knowledge. We intend to increase the quantity, quality and relevance of our research agenda with the view to creating innovations and inventions that will transform the country into a knowledge-based economy. In addition, we endeavour to build strong partnerships with like-minded institutions through resource mobilization, research activities and knowledge transfer.
