MUST wishes  to recruit qualified and dedicated staff to fill the following vacant positions:

CHIEF LEGAL OFFICER – GRADE 14 (RE-ADVERTISEMENT) –      MUST/ADM/01/19 (1 POST)

The Chief Legal Officer shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Management of the University legal function;
  2. Provision of legal counsel and advice to the University Management;
  3. Assist in preparation of legal or quasi-legal documents for the University;
  4. Interpretation general University Statutes, Terms and Conditions of Service, Collective Agreements and other documents that have legal binding on the University;
  5. Offering legal advice and support to the University and its affiliates on the acquisition, management and disposal of University property;
  6. Offering Secretariat services to the Council and all its Committees
  7. Review university’s legal and regulatory framework to ensure compliance, removal of impediments and security of members’ contribution.
  8. Guiding the Council on Key governance and compliance issues.

Requirements:

  1. A Master’s Degree in Law
  2. Bachelor of Law Degree from a recognized University
  3. Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a member of the LSK, and have a valid practicing certificate.
  4. Certified Public Secretary and member of ICPSK with a valid membership certificate
  5. Work experience as a board Secretary in a large corporation.
  6. Fully computer literate
  7. Proven knowledge of corporate regulatory and company law, rules and norms
  8. Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills,
  9. Be of high integrity and ensure confidentiality.
  10. Have the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  11. Comply with the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 on leadership and integrity.

CHIEF INTERNAL AUDITOR – GRADE 15 (RE-ADVERTISEMENT) –      MUST/ADM/02/19 (1 POST)

The Chief Internal Auditor shall be administratively responsible to the Vice Chancellor and functionally to the audit committee of the Council.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Review of accounting systems and related internal controls.
  2. Continuous evaluation of the efficiency and effectiveness of internal control systems.
  3. Investigate and advise on matters pertaining to internal and external audit queries.
  4. Review of the implementation of corporate policies, plans and procedures.
  5. Design, implement, co-ordinate and review internal audit control systems.
  6. Responsible for developing and implementing audit work plan.
  7. Serve as a secretary to the Audit committee of the Council.

Requirements:

  1. A Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting/Finance or related field and Masters’ degree in a business field.
  2. Ten (10) years relevant professional experience, 5 years of which as a deputy Chief Auditor or its equivalent.
  3. Must be a CPA (K), ACCA final or its equivalent.
  4. A Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) will be an added advantage.
  5. Demonstrated experience in Systems Audit and practical knowledge of ICT.
  6. Effective communication, good interpersonal and reporting skills.
  7. Proven high degree of integrity, honesty and ethical practices.
  8. Must adhere to Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya

LECTURERS – GRADE 12                   –       MUST/ACA/01/19

Applicants are invited for post of Lecturer in the following area: –

  1. Education Foundation
  2. Public Health
  3. Entomology
  4. Environmental Science
  5. Parasitology

Applicants must have:

  • An earned Ph.D or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.

OR

A Master’s degree in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University with at least three (3) years teaching experience at University level or in research or in industry.

  • A minimum of 24 publication points, of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed journal papers.
  • Registered or be registerable with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
  • Evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops.

Remuneration

A competitive remuneration will be paid in accordance with the Meru University of Science and Technology Terms and Conditions of service.

ASSISTANT ESTATES MANAGER                         – GRADE 11/12 (1 POST)

Applicants should:

  • Be holders of a Bachelor’s Degree in Building Construction, Civil Engineering, Quantity Survey or equivalent qualification from a recognized University.
  • Have at least five (5) years relevant experience as an Estates Manager or equivalent senior position in a large organization.
  • Have experience in conducting site surveys and evaluating prefeasibility and feasibility studies.
  • Have knowledge and experience in carrying out civil works and evaluating drawings and specifications for construction projects.
  • Have a track record of managing a large team of Construction and Maintenance personnel.
  • Be registered with the relevant professional body.

LEGAL OFFICER                                         – GRADE 12 (1 POST)

Applicants should:

  • Have Masters of Law (LL.M) with at least three (3)  years experience as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya

OR

  • Be holders of a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) degree from a recognized University with

at least five years (5) years working experience as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

  • Be holders of a post graduate diploma in law from the Kenya school of law.
  • Have a current advocates practicing certificate.

Applicants should:

  • Be holders of a Masters in Procurement and Logistics Management or Masters in Supply Chain Management with at least three (3) years’ experience in a busy procurement environment.

OR

  • Be Holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing and Supplies Management or related field with a post graduate diploma in Purchasing and Supplies Management from a recognized institution.
  • Have worked for a minimum of five (5) years in a large and busy public or private institution.
  • Be registered with the relevant professional body.
  • Obtain clearance from the Kenya Revenue Authority, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and a valid Certificate of Good Conduct from Kenya Police Service.

SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT             – GRADE 10 (1 POST)

Applicants should:

  • Be a Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field from a recognized University.
  • Have atleast five (5) years administrative experience three of which as an administrative Assistant in a learning institution.
  • Demonstrate competence in Management Information Systems.

  • Be registered with Clinical Officers Council of Kenya

Applicants should:

  • Be holders of a Diploma in Nursing from a recognized Institution.
  • Have Kenya Registered Nurse or Equivalent.
  • Have at least three (3) years’ experience as Kenya Registered Nursing Officer.
  • Be registered by Nursing Council of Kenya and have a valid practicing license.
  • Have good communication skills and willing to take instructions.

WEB CONTENT DEVELOPER/EDITOR – GRADE 8 (1 POST) (RE-ADVERTISEMENT)

Applicants should:

  • Be holders of a Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism or Mass Communication, Technical writing or related field.
  • Have a minimum of three (3) years working experience gained in an institution of higher learning, public or private sector.
  • Have excellent writing and editing skills, with an understanding of the special requirements of writing for the Web, such as use of keywords, hyperlinks, navigation and importance of brevity.
  • Have good interpersonal skills to work effectively with contributors, designers and webmasters.

AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC           – GRADE 6/7  (1 POST)

Applicants should:

  • Be holders of a Diploma in Auto/Mechanical Engineering with a valid driving license with class A, B, C, E.
  • Have Government Trade Test I (Mechanic Qualifications)
  • Have a minimum of three (3) years demonstrated experience in repairs and maintenance of vehicles in a busy automotive environment.
  • Demonstrate good and proven experience in diagnostic and report writing skills.
  • Be of high integrity, able and willing to work long hours with minimal supervision.
  • Obtain clearance from the Kenya Revenue Authority, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and a valid Certificate of Good Conduct from Kenya Police Service.

COOKS                                              – GRADE 4 (2 POSTS)

Applicant should:

  • Be holders of a Diploma in Institutional Catering Management or equivalent from a recognized institution with at least three (3) years relevant experience in a busy food production and service environment.

OR

  • Be holders of a Certificate in Food Production from either Kenya Utalii College or from a recognized institution examined by KNEC.
  • Be holders of a minimum KCSE grade C-
  • Have a current food handlers’ certificate
  • Be Flexible to work under pressure on a 24 – hour shift and have good interpersonal skills.
  • Obtain clearance from the Kenya Revenue Authority, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and a valid Certificate of Good Conduct from Kenya Police Service.

DRIVERS                                           – GRADE 3 (4 POSTS)

Applicants should:

  • Be holders of a KCSE grade of D (plain).
  • Be holders of a valid driving license free from any current endorsement for classes BCE and PSV.
  • Have passed suitability test for drivers grade III.
  • Have passed practical test for drivers conducted by the respective Ministry/Department.
  • Be holders of a Driver Mechanic Certificate having passed grade test III.
  • Have at least five (5) years driving experience
  • Preferably ex-National Youth Service men or women.

WATER OPERATOR                                   – GRADE 4 (1 POST)

Be holders of a certificate in water operations or related field from a recognized institution.Applicants should:

  • Have a minimum KCSE Mean grade C (Plain) or KCE Div III or its equivalent.
  • Have at least three (3) years relevant experience.
  • Obtain clearance from the Kenya Revenue Authority, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and a valid Certificate of Good Conduct from Kenya Police Service.

Registration Certificate with a professional body will be an added advantage.

MEDICAL RECORDS CLERK                    – GRADE 3 (1 POST)

  • Have at least two (2) years experience as a Medical Records Clerk in a reputable medical environment.
