Meru University Of Science And Technology Vice Chancellor, Education Cabinet Secretary, Amb. (Dr.) Amina Mohammed has appointed Prof. Romanus Odhiambo Otieno to serve as the Vice-Chancellor of Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST).  Prof. Odhiambo takes over from Prof. Charity Gichuki who has been serving as the Ag. Vice-Chancellor since March 2018.

Until his appointment, Prof. Odhiambo was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academic Affairs at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

Prof. Odhiambo is a Professor of Statistics with over 26 years’ experience in academics and research.  He has served in a number of administrative leadership positions at JKUAT over the years as; Chair of an academic department for two successive terms (4 years), competitively elected dean of a faculty for two successive terms (4 years), Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Affairs for 10 years, Chairperson of various committees and taskforces as well as being a member of various executive management boards in the University.

In his career, Prof. Odhiambo has distinguished himself in organizational development and management aspects such as resource mobilization/fundraising, projects management and leading change.  Prof. Odhiambo has also supervised a number of students at Masters and Doctoral level. Prof. Odhiambo is a member of International Biometric Society (IBS), Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS) and Kenya Inter-University Association of Mathematicians and Computer Science.
