technical university of mombasa school of engineering, the faculty of Engineering and Technology in Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) covers a broad range of disciplines. The faculty is composed of four Departments namely: Building & Civil Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechanical & Automotive Engineering, and Medical Engineering.

The programmes offered respond to the demands of regional, national and global industry priorities in engineering and technology education.

The Faculty aspiration is a major driver of socio-economic change in the region through a range of proposed multi-disciplinary research centers. It also endeavors to integrate its education and research programmes into a unified system, providing scholars with modern technological platforms for appropriate and industry focused education, with a high degree of work-integrated learning. These platforms include provision of quality education in product design through to simulation. Through national, regional and international partnerships, an essential mechanism for research and technology transfer can be attained, while at the same time creating opportunities for students to have international experience. The Faculty offers Bachelor of Science degree programmes (BSc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, BSc. Civil Engineering, BSc. in Mechanical Engineering, BSc. in Medical Engineering) take five years of study (Ten Semesters).The Faculty also offers Bachelor of Technology programmes in the above specialization which takes duration of four years. Diploma in Technology and Certificates in the respective programmes are also offered.

As part of a University of Engineering Science and Technology, our mandate requires participation in community-based and SME projects, with a strong emphasis on commercialization, providing an avenue for technology transfer and spin-off technology enterprises. In this way, we endeavor to provide our students and researchers with opportunities to engage at the highest level of engineering, and continue to impact on the development of high-end engineering skills as a basis for industrial competitiveness.

The Faculty nurtures a desire for excellence among its members through various forms of interactions such as seminars, workshops, presentations, brainstorming sessions, exhibitions and conferences in order to spur the growth of technological capacity. The Faculty is confident that its certificate, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that are offered by highly qualified and experienced academic and support staff, meet the best university standards worldwide.

The Faculty endeavors to play a significant role in ensuring that the National development objectives that MDG and Vision 2030 are achieved. This it will attain by admitting and training multi-disciplinary engineering graduates capable of solving societal problems through a well-developed market oriented curriculum in collaboration with stakeholders; recruiting, training and retaining qualified engineering staff; harnessing and disseminating acquired engineering knowledge through scientific research and technological innovations; developing an effective infrastructure, technology and entrepreneurship; and providing extension services to community while adhering to environmental health and safety policies.
