University Of Eldoret Dairy Farm, this programme mainly involves the following activities:

  • Synthesis of complex journal publications, postgraduate research thesis and other scientific materials into simple content language for extension purposes
  • Preparation of training manuals
  • Conducting farmer training and extension services

So far, training manuals for short courses have been developed and farmer training have been scheduled for the months of November through to June 2019. The short courses whose training manuals are ready for teaching farmers include:

  • Mushroom production
  • Soil fertility and fertilizer use (ISFM)
  • Horticulture crop production

The courses which are also under preparation are animal production, in the following value chains:

  • Dairy
  • Poultry
  • Fisherie

Some of the training are being implemented jointly with other organizations such as e-Lengo (http://mkulima.co/). This is an online platform where farmers, especially the youth, can assess training online. The university is in the process of signing a MoU with e-Lengo to help facilitate the training.
