University Of Eldoret Recent News, Following the successful transition to ISO 9001:2015 Standard by University of Eldoret on 14th September 2018, need arose to review and revise the documents to align with the recommendations from the various audits which were done before transition in order to have a robust quality Management System in all operations of the University.

In view of this, the Director, Quality Assurance, Prof. Donald Otieno organized a 3-day workshop at UoE Town Campus to review and revise the current ISO 9001:2015 QMS documents i.e. Quality Manual and the Processes. The Directorate had earlier requested the process owners (Quality Units) to indicate areas that needed revision.

The workshop was officially opened on 12th February, 2019 and closed on 14th February, 2019 by the Management’s Representative, who is also the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (AF), Prof. Wilson Ngétich.

In his remarks, the Management Representative (MR) emphasized the need for all staff to impress the spirit of ISO 9001:2015 QMS which calls for the enhancement of better services to customers and stakeholders. The Management Representative implored the Quality Auditors to utilize their skills resourcefully in the University and beyond.

The MR also reiterated that the Vice-Chancellor was very keen to see that the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System being practised impacts positively to the operations of the University of Eldoret to make it competitive Nationally, Regionally and globally.

In the three days’ workshop twenty nine (29) Quality Auditors/documentalists were involved and carried out the following;

  • Reviewed the requirements of the ISO 9001:2015 Standard
  • Reviewed and revised the Processes
  • Reviewed and revised the Corporate Quality Objectives, Quality Policy Statement and Scope
  • Developed a new Process of Maintenance
  • Reviewed and revised the Quality Manual
  • Reviewed and revised the UoE Risk Register

The next step for the Directorate will involve releasing of the reviewed and revised ISO 9001:2015 QMS documents to the University Units for ownership and implementation.
